Spring has sprung and the flowers have bloomed. The sun warm, the breeze cool. The ocean is serene and folks have sprawled out of their work habitats and congested highways in search of quietude. A place for reflection. Seal Point.

Located on the eastern coast of San Mateo, Seal Point is a haven for city dwellers looking to temporarily escape into nature. There lies an abundance of dirt and paved trails intertwined with each other, crossing paths on hills and stair cases, making this small park a great place to do various physical activities. You will see people running, jogging and cycling, some with pets, and others with friends. Sometimes you will see people laying on the grass, doing yoga on the hills, flying their kites on the field, or just relaxing on the turf-grass by the slipway. On occasion, there may also be paddle-boarders and kayakers who make their way into the water, taking another step further from their city lives. 

Dawn and Dusk are the best times to be here when looking to capture the amazing shots of the sunrise or sunset. I would suggest visiting this park any time of the year, though spring would be best if you wish to see the colorful foliage. 

This park is a hidden gem for those looking for a cozy place to workout outdoors! There are hills and staircases to sprint up, as well as flat paved and dirt paths for low intensity cardio. There is also a turf-grass area right by the water for those who want to exercise but don't want to get too dirty. There are two bathrooms near the parking lot, as well as several benches scattered throughout the park for those who just want to sit and relax under the sun. As for those who love to watch planes fly overhead or stare at the ocean, this place is ideal for that too! Cheers!

Please note that all the trails are open to dogs, as well as two large enclosed areas where dogs are allowed to run to their hearts' content. However, please pick up after your dogs, no one's day should be spoiled by stepping on the droppings of another.
