Heather, I love you, but please don’t $#%* with me.”

”No, you really hit the list. Congratulations, Mr. New York Times bestselling author!”

I leaned against the wall and slid down until I was sitting on the floor. I closed my eyes, smiled, and took a deep breath. Things were about to change.

Everything was about to change.
— Timothy Ferriss, The 4-hour Workweek

I've only gotten to the second page of the preface of this book, and was inspired to write this post. I've spent months taking notes of things I had wanted to write about; ideas and topics about something or other, but have not actually sat down to really write anything tangible. There was something about reading these seven sentences that woke something in me [as corny as that sounds].

As I read these words, I paused to look around me. There is a perfectly good wall next to me. I have perfectly normal legs that could take me to that wall. And I have fairly decent knees that would help me slide myself down until I sat on the floor. The difference here is that there is something missing. The feeling that lifted Tim up so high that it brought him to the ground.

We've all had notions in our heads about achieving success, living a "better" life, and pursuing our dreams. Unfortunately, not a lot of people actually get the nerve to change their lifestyle and do those things. And that's a shame. Everyone has their definition of what success is or what the good life means to them; the issue is not what those things are, but how we get them.

I believe that a good life, a life worth living, is a life that inspires. You don't necessarily need to become a New York Times bestselling author [though that would be nice], but as long as you can reach out and positively influence at least one other person in this world, then you're doing something right.

This is the first of many posts on my blog, and I hope you will be here from time to time to check up on my progress. I would also love to hear back from you as well, to know if I've inspired you to do that same!
